Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Instructional Design Instructions. My name is Adam Creelman and I'm a graduate student studying Educational Technology and Learning Design at Simon Fraser University. This blog has been created to serve as a learning resource on the design of multimedia instruction, with an emphasis on cognitive load theory and the principles of multimedia learning.

The learning goals for this resource are to improve reader's knowledge of multimedia learning principles and encourage them to apply these principles in their own practice. This is an informal learning space that I hope will appeal to a broad audience of educators and fledgling instructional designers.

The idea is that the blog will be updated with new posts that can be viewed as learning objects. These posts will provide readers with some domain content and ask discussion questions and activity prompts. Each of these can be responded to in the corresponding comment section following each post. The goal is to foster an active community of commenters/learners that can grow and learn as I do the same.

So, welcome - let's learn about multimedia learning, through multimedia and through each other.
